Doing the Right Thing
So it seems doing the right thing, isn’t always cut and dried. However, in this case it is. We have all recognized the need for behavioral health support to veterans and their families. So many veterans suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. While little is known about these problems they’re is treatment that helps. Unfortunately so many veterans are left out in the cold by the Department of Defense and the VA.
Now, there are a growing number of private non-profits that are picking up the slack. In this case Stephen Cohen has established an organization that will help all veterans and their families regardless of the circumstances surrounding their discharge. While progress is being made fixing the discharges where service-members with PTSD are put out for bad conduct that is connected to their PTSD and TBI.
These organizations that are privately funded are making a big difference in the lives of veterans every day by doing the right thing. Many of them are local only, however this doesn’t mean that there isn’t one in your area. Veteran organizations tend to network, so if you don’t know where to start you can contact a veteran organization like VFW or the American Legion. State governments also have veteran departments that can help and sometimes even counties governments have offices that assist veterans. If you still can’t find anyone contact me and will do everything in my power to find you assistance.
